BA (Hons) Visual Communication (Animation and Moving Image)

INTRODUCTION

This Discipline concentrates on the use of Animation Technology to solve traditional and contemporary problems of visual communication.

In Animation and Moving Image you will study the interpretation of ideas, image and sound, expedited through electronic media, exploring the potential of interactive multimedia animation and video, as contemporary tools in the communication process.

COURSE CONTENT

The content and structure of the course follows a sequential progression to introduce you to the essential skills and understanding needed to undertake the study.

In level 1/year 1, you will work in a variety of disciplines with an emphasis on thinking, looking, doing and making.

In level 2/year 2, you concentrate on Animation and Moving Image, balanced with internship opportunity. Creative ideas, aesthetics and technology play an important part. At the end of level 2/year 2, you will prepare ideas for level 3/year 3 Negotiated Projects.

For level 3/year 3, we place the emphasis on sharing the responsibility for your own development. You will negotiate an individual programme of study, including a major project linked to a final essay. Throughout the course, you will go through Contextual Studies, integrated in relevant modules.

There are three levels of progression, each containing ten 120 hour modules or equivalent.

ASSESSMENT

The material assessed is the learning outcome of each module. Each module is assessed according to the stipulated course module criteria and the university regulations.
