| Why not just get it straight from the horse's mouth? Some of our students impart their experiences in SIAD..

"I am basically from a science background and after coming here; I discovered my creative side and learnt how to utilize my skills. Within the span of a year, I explored all aspects of multimedia and understood where I would fit in. We have students from different parts of the country and we get along very well. The faculty over here is amazing, they have a lot of interest and they encourage you to be original and natural." |

"Previously, I was a faculty member of another multimedia training institute in the city. I felt the need to do a specialized 3-D animation course. I attended an open house event organized by the college and immediately wanted to become a part of it. After joining this institution, my whole perspective changed! I learnt how to bring new concepts up and how to work on it. The faculty and environment is extremely good. The workshops organized are informative. Everyone doesn't get this chance and I am happy that I am a part of it all. I would just like to say that my college rocks and my heart is where my college is!" |

"The learning at SIAD was a perfect combination of Discipline & Flexibility (creative freedom). The faculty provided us with their full support right from guidance regarding subject related problems to giving us access to the resources at the college. Beginning with the screening test to the final selection into the course, our faculty and Students Coordinator were very much involved in guiding us about our strengths and weaknesses and as to which kind of specialization would be appropriate for us. It was a very pleasant experience to be at SIAD, with the experience similar to a close-knit family. The ambiance of the place accentuated the experience of the same. SIAD is the place, which has aided me in taking my first step in the field of design and I am fortunate to have joined the course. " |

Social Sensitivity
by Siddharth
“There have always been inequalities in life. We can never change that, but what we can do is, try to help other people deal with the situation or perhaps make them feel happy. We were given the opportunity to do this. We spent time with children who are less privileged. We had great fun teaching them art, craft, playing games to name a few. I feel that people should be sensitized to issues around them. This would make way for better people, thereby making a better society.” |

'Shout For A Cause'
by Romaa
I chose to make a documentary film on 'Street Theatre'. When I set out to make the film, little did I know about the fact that street theatre is very much different from stage theatre and it is not just about the location. It was very interesting to note that the whole concept of today's street theatre is totally Communist in nature in terms of its ideology and working. Supported by Leftist parties, today's street theatre groups reach out to the working class of the society. Instead of calling it 'Street Theatre', it can be called the 'Open Space Theatre' because plays are performed in colleges, schools, factories, parks, playgrounds, etc. apart from street corners. It was a challenging, yet an enriching experience. |

Street Graphics on Footwear
by John
Everyday on streets we see diverse forms of graphics, ranging from political posters to advertisements promoting products. One can see variety in terms of colors, forms and type, which creates an experience of its own. Thus these day-to-day communications motivated me to recreate something with the same. In India the traditional medium of Graphic Design is very much restricted to mediums such as print and audiovisuals. Using the same medium to communicate my message, would have led the project to be lost among hundreds. Hence I decided on an alternate medium to create awareness about street graphics accompanied by a social message aimed at the youth. |

‘Need for Speed’
by Bala
Everyone at a certain moment in their life realizes the need; the need for speed, without realizing how fatal the speed could be to them. I am no exception and I take this splendid opportunity to give focus on this issue and create awareness among all. The concept of making a set for my film was brought forth accidentally. It is just not my project alone, it has the work of all my friends and I take pride to be with them and thank them profusely. The time given for me to complete this project was a week and let me explain the process that infused life into this project.
The planning was done and the sequences were finalized. Materials were purchased and brought into the campus. The roads and the pavement were created using thermocol. The buildings were made out of boxes and were given different colors. Cigarette boxes were also used to create buildings. I got a very high moral boost seeing the roads and the buildings take shape, which encouraged me to do more detailed specifications.
One full day was spent on shooting. Using the tube lights as the only light source was a challenge by itself. I sorted out the buildings in such a way so that I shot a single stretch of road as different sideways or alleys. I took stills with the digital camera to confirm whether the output was realistic and to predict how much light was there in my frame. The captured film was edited using Avid Express Pro and various techniques such as rough-cut and slowdown effect were used. The output was ready to be presented, and the video was exported. |
